  • This show is certified by AOBA and all rules and guidelines comply with the 2008 AOBA Show Division Handbook.
  • See information on Health & Barn Requirements page for BVD testing requirements for all alpacas.
  • All alpacas entered in the Show or brought as companion animals must be registered by the Alpaca Registry, Inc. (ARI).  Photocopies of ARI registration certificates that include the microchip numbers are required at check-in for all alpacas in the transport vehicle. These copies will be retained at check-in.
  • Current Health Certificates for travel to Colorado will be required at check-in. Exhibitors shall have a Veterinary Certificate of Inspection (Health Papers ) completed not more than 30 days prior to the last date of the show for each alpaca transported to the show that clearly identifies each alpaca's ARI name and microchip number. All alpacas entering the show venue must have an active microchip, to be verified by a universal reader. This includes all companion animals or those in transit but not entered in the show. Bring a photocopy of your Health Papers that includes the alpaca's name, microchip numbers and the negative BVD status with either a PCR or VI test to leave at vet check. These will be retained by Show management. [AOBA rule]
  • Copies of ARI registration certificates for all alpacas in the show must be submitted with entries. These go to the Halter Show Superintendent and are not available for use at Vet Check.
  • Buyer’s Permission to Show Forms are accepted if properly executed by owner shown on ARI certificate. [This is not required if you are simply showing an alpaca for another farm.]
  • Color Check is required as part of check-in. Alpacas may be moved to a more appropriate color class. Yearling suris will be verified for “Shorn within 12 months of 1st day of scheduled judging (3”-9” fleece length)” vs. “Not Previously Shorn (3”-No Maximum)” for division into two classes based on shearing status and applicable fleece length. [New AOBA rule]
  • There is a strict limit of three (3) alpacas per stall (including crias) and farms are limited to six (6) stalls.
  • Entries must be postmarked by April 3, 2008 and received by April 7, 2008.  We suggest Priority Mail if you are nearing these deadlines.
  • This show is limited by the number of stall spaces available. When the capacity of 670 stalls is reached, we regretfully will need to decline any further stall applications. A waiting list will be maintained and any vacancies filled from that list.
  • A $25.00 fee will be retained for all stall cancellations and/or entry cancellations [one fee per farm] after stalls/entries are processed.
  • No refunds, substitutions or changes allowed after April 14, 2008.
  • Three rings will be operating simultaneously, following AOBA color order, except for the probability that White huacaya males will be showing at the same time as Gray, Indefinite and Multi males. Exhibitors need to have sufficient handlers to service their entries.
  • If you have purchased an alpaca or any services from any of the three judges listed above or any company or alpaca owned partly by that judge, please consult the 2008 AOBA Show Handbook  regarding your ability to show in front of that particular judge.
  • All Exhibitors must sign the Exhibitor’s Disclosure form available with the Registration form on this website. This signed form must be enclosed with the entries.
ENTRIES WITH INCOMPLETE ANIMAL INFORMATION OR INCORRECT PAYMENT AMOUNTS WILL BE RETURNED FOR CORRECTION LOSING POSTMARK PRIORITY FOR STALLS IF STALL ORDERS ARE SUBMITTED WITH ENTRIES. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ENTRIES CAREFULLY.

GROUP CLASSES: All Group Class entries must be received by the April 7, 2007 deadline. No on-site entries will be allowed. Color is not a consideration in Group Class judging, except that Bred & Owned may be divided into Light & Dark at the Superintendent’s discretion. Limit of 3 entries per farm. [Exception: Breeder’s Best 3, in which the Breeder may only enter once.]

Get of Sire:  Entry is made and entry fee plus AOBA $6 fee is paid in the name of the sire (sire is not shown).  If sire is also being shown in his respective class, the $6 fee does not apply.  Group is made of three (3) progeny from the same sire, representing offspring from three (3) different dams and selection of members of the group does not have to be declared at registration.  All progeny must be eligible and registered to show in their respective halter classes. Limit of one (1) group per herdsire.

Produce of Dam:  Entry is made and entry fee plus AOBA $6 fee is paid in the name of the dam (dam is not shown) and represents two (2) offspring by the same dam.  All progeny must be eligible and registered to show in their respective halter classes.

Bred and Owned Yearling Female:  This class represents an on-going breeding program by exhibiting a yearling owned by the Exhibitor whose dam was owned by the Exhibitor at the time the dam was bred.  Entries must be eligible and registered to show in their respective halter classes, so AOBA $6 fee is not paid again. A copy of the ARI registration for the yearling showing ownership of the dam at time of birth must be sent with entry form. Each farm may enter up to three (3) yearling females.  Class is not divided by color unless 16+ entries; then divided Light & Dark.

Bred and Owned Yearling Male:  (see explanation above)

Breeder’s Best Three:  Three (3) alpacas bred and presently owned by the Exhibitor as indicated on the registration certificate for the alpacas.  Copies of the registration certificates for the chosen three (3) alpacas must accompany the entry form.  One entry fee is paid in the name of the farm.  Ages and genders may be mixed. One entry is allowed per breeder/farm.  Alpacas must be eligible and registered to show in their respective halter classes, so AOBA fee of $6 does not apply.

Open Gelding:
Males 18 months or older that are physically gelded. [See Handbook]  Suris & huacayas are shown separately. All colors are combined unless there are sufficient entries to create color groups. Can have Championship if enough entries.
