ANTICIPATED SHOW LEVEL: Level III (175-349 fleeces)

Entry Fee: $30.00 per fleece (includes $6.00 fee to AOBA)

AOBA Non-Member Fee: Exhibitors not members of AOBA or AOBA members not registered with the AOBA Show Division must pay a $75.00 fee per farm if not paid for 2008 GWAS Halter Show.

First Time Exhibitor Award for highest scoring fleece by a first time Exhibitor in the GWAS Fleece Show, determined by total fleece scores.  Highest overall total fleece score receives this award.

Show Rules and Requirements for Participation

  • The show is AOBA certified and all rules and guidelines must comply with the 2008 AOBA Show Division Handbook.  
  • For membership information or to join the Show Division in lieu of paying the $75 per show fee, contact the AOBA Office or visit the AOBA website.               
  • All fleeces entered in the Show must be from alpacas registered by the Alpaca Registry, Inc. (ARI).
  • Fleeces must be entered in the name of the current owner of the alpaca as matched to the ARI certificate or Buyer’s Permission to Show form
  • Copies of ARI registration certificates must be included with entries
  • Buyer’s Permission to Show Forms are accepted if properly executed by owner shown on ARI certificate
  • Please refer to the AOBA Show Division 2008 color designation definitions for certain color groups.  Compliance Check for both color and length is required as part of fleece check in and fleeces may be moved to a more appropriate class. 
  • Fleeces may not be shown beyond 380 days following the shearing date.
  • Limit of three fleeces per owner/farm/entity, per breed type (Huacaya and Suri), per age division, per color designation; no maximum per farm.  The Exhibitor Rule of 3 entries per owner/farm/entity, per breed type, per age division, per color designation applies.
  • Entries must be postmarked by April 2, 2008 and received by April 6, 2008. Entries postmarked after April 2, 2008, will be returned.
  • Fleeces will be combined into color groups according to show size under AOBA Color Combining rules (same as halter) See chart in the current AOBA Show Handbook
  • The minimum Fleece Score to award a blue ribbon is 60.  If none of the fleeces in a class achieve 60 points or above then the Judge shall start placements with a Red Ribbon in that class.
  • A $ 5.00 fee will be retained per fleece for all refunds after entries are processed.
  • No refunds, substitutions or changes allowed after April 16, 2008.
  • Sorry, no mail-in fleeces accepted.
  • Championships:  AOBA requirement is the same as Halter: 10 for huacaya and 8 for suri.
  • Duplicate ribbons will not be provided in cases where animals are co-owned or purchased. One ribbon is issued per award to the owner paying the entry fee. The show is not responsible for replacement of lost or destroyed ribbons.


ENTRIES WITH INCOMPLETE INFORMATION OR INCORRECT PAYMENT AMOUNTS WILL BE RETURNED FOR CORRECTION.

A 6 thru 12 months (Juvenile)
B 1st birthday thru 24 months (Yearling)
