Show Rules 2007
The Alpaca
Composite Class is a combination of fleece and shorn halter classes.
Show rules have changed for 2007, please refer to the AOBA Show Division
Handbook for complete rules. Alpacas in composite class will be evaluated
in a combined fleece and shorn conformation class. Fleece needs to be
brought to color check with your alpaca.
Ribbons
will be awarded for 1st - 6th place finishers. Color Championships will
be awarded when minimum requirements are met.
Show
Rule Summary
- All
applicable show rules as stated within the current AOBA Show Division
Handbook will be strictly adhered to.
- The
Exhibitor Rule applies and entries are limited to three per breed
type, per gender, per age division, per color designation.
- Each
entry MUST have a copy of the ARI Certificate and Buyers Permission
to Form, if applicable, mailed WITH registration form.
- Each
entry MUST be microchipped.
- Health certificates DATED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE LAST DAY OF THE SHOW and copies of ARI registration required at check-in for all animals. Health Certificate must display alpaca ARI number, alpaca name as on ARI certificate, microchip number, negative BVDV results with testing method. A copy of the Health Certificate and the ARI registrations must be given to the ABR show staff. All animals
will be checked by a veterinarian.
- At
check-in each alpaca and associated fleece entry will be checked
by Show Management for 1) correct color class placement with the current
ARI color chart, 2) multicolor and spot rule requirements, 3) correct
halter class placement by breed type, age, gender, and color, and 4)
fleece must be brought with the alpaca to color check-in. Fleeces will be taken to the Fleece show room for judging.
- Composite
class judging is evaluated on a combined fleece and shorn conformation
class. The Judge will assess the alpaca based on 100% conformation. The fleece is judged using an absolute fleece scoring system.
- The
fleece age for the composite will be considered as the same age as
the alpaca in its halter class.
- Staple
length of shorn alpacas on neck, blanket, and legs to the knee/hock
is not to exceed 2" on Huacayas or 3" on Suris.
- All
alpacas shall be presented for judging with a plain halter and lead
line.
- Shorn
fleeces shall be presented in clear plastic bags with completed fleece
entry tags enclosed and visible.
- The
fleece shown must be from the most recent shearing of the alpaca entered
and shall consist of prime fleece only (blanket).
- Fleeces
containing breaks, mats, excessive debris may be discounted accordingly.
- Shorn
fleeces not meeting minimum or exceeding maximum lengths per the appropriate
requirements for breed and age per show division handbook and fleeces
showing signs of parasitic infestation will be disqualified.
